Unite at Cardiff University

Unite the union is the campus trade union for a range of members, including those working in Professional Services, Technicans, Estates, Residences and Academic disciplines.  We work in solidarity and collaborate with the other recognized trade unions representing Cardiff University colleagues: Cardiff UCU and Unison.

Unite is a nationally recognised trade union and we have national representatives who negotiate with employer bodies such as UCEA on pay and conditions. Our current General Secretary is Sharon Graham.

We are an inclusive, diverse and supportive branch. We follow and implement national demands in a local context: secure work, strong voice, decent pay.

We are the union

We are a member led trade union branch. This is your union and we are all the union. You can get involved in branch activities by taking part in branch meetings, submitting motions for consideration, joining in with local campaigns, and simply making your reps aware of what is going on in your department or team. You can even become a rep.

As workplace reps, officers, chair, and secretary can represent the branch on university committees, working groups, and in the Joint Consultative Negotiation Forum, we work and negotiate with management on a weekly basis. We want to make sure our members' voices are heard.
